Individual accounts have no roles. There is one person, and it is you.
FAQs
On the yearly plan, yes: the first 7 days are free. Your card goes on file at checkout, and nothing's charged until the trial ends. Cancel before then and you won't be charged. The monthly plan has no trial and bills from day one. Or try Slate on the free plan for as long as you like.
The workspace goes read-only. Nothing's deleted: every video stays watchable, and every link you've shared keeps working. You just can't record into the shared workspace or add members until the card's sorted out. Then it picks up exactly where it left off.
If you cancel, the plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. After that nothing's deleted, no shared link breaks, and team recordings stay playable. What ends is the shared library: everyone keeps what they recorded in their own library and stops seeing each other's. Recordings set to your team only are then watchable by the person who made them.
Whoever you choose, per recording. New recordings start unlisted: anyone with the link can watch, no account needed. For tighter control, limit it to anyone signed in to Slate, your team, specific email addresses, or just you. Just you means just you, not even your admins. Set your default once in Settings.
Yes, on a team plan. Add your logo, your color, and intro and outro clips to every recording. Share pages can be light or dark, and Slate's name can come off entirely. Links can live on your own domain, like videos.yourcompany.com: add two DNS records and we handle the rest. Links you've already sent keep working.
No. Once a recording has a transcript, it gets a title and a short summary written from what was actually said, and that comes with every paid seat. Loom sells the equivalent as a $24 a seat tier. A title or summary you wrote yourself is never overwritten. The Mac app makes the transcript on your own machine while you talk, so it's usually ready before the upload finishes.
Yes. Paste your Loom links and Slate imports them, fifty at a time, with titles, descriptions, and transcripts. Importing comes with a paid seat.
Yes, on a team plan. Slate has an MCP server, the open standard Claude, Cursor, and most AI tools use to connect to outside data. Connect once, then paste a recording's link. The AI reads the transcript, the comments, and what was on screen, and can grab a screenshot at any moment. It only sees what you could already see, and Slate charges nothing per call. Built for bug reports: record the problem, paste the link, and Claude has the full context.
Actually free. No card at signup and no countdown. Your 25 most recent recordings stay playable, and a team plan keeps every one. We charge organizations for the shared workspace, not individuals for recording their screen.
A paid seat is one person recording on the team plan, at $9 a month or $90 a year. Owners and admins always take a paid seat.
Everyone else can join on a free seat, at no charge: they are in the shared library, can watch and comment on the team’s recordings, and record under the individual plan’s rules. Move anyone to a paid seat whenever they start recording for the team.
No. They don't sign up, install anything, or pay. They open the link, record in their browser or upload a recording from their phone, and the video lands in your library.

Yes, for Mac and Windows. Both live beside the clock, capture system audio, and have global hotkeys. There's also a Chrome extension and a browser recorder that installs nothing.
They all sign in to the same account and record into the same library. The Apps page lists what each one can do.
